However, in making this pattern, I took a minimalist and modern route. Although it takes a cue from traditional striped and floral wallpaper, I tried to keep it very clean and almost geometrical with lots of white space and bold colors to make it vibrant, but simple.
Ever wonder what to do with those pictures that are nice but just don’t stand up to scrutiny when zoomed in? They make great wallpaper for your phone. Here are two examples of images that don’t cut it for stock for one imperfection or another, but they look great on my phone. Feel free to copy and download these for your own use. This is the second oil painting I did since picking up a brush again. I hope to practice some more soon.
Why this subject? Well I have a thing for old books. I pick them up at the swap shop and second hand stores. I love the detail work on those hardcovers as well as the connection to the past.
And the flowers? Well, freesias are my favorite flower. Have you ever smelled one? Its one of the strongest floral scents I know of. The small flowers will fill a room with a sweet and pleasant floral scent that is yet to be reproduced in any perfume or artificial scent. I miss being able to buy the bunches of them while they are in season. They're not easily found up here in the Northeast.
